Day 6, Year 1

I should have known better than to declare victory. Reeling in an albatross is never a good idea, and I had to go fucking jinx it.

The core is just fine, don’t get me wrong, but welding engines from a different ship type to the ark while maintaining structural integrity will be a major headache. First rate mechanic aside, even with Al’s help, I’m no shipyard.

Overhauling the ark isn’t possible out here, or even at all. Fuck if I know. This is a one-of-a-kind ship. The damage’s pretty extensive, and I’m about to strap rockets to it with what essentially amounts to duct tape.

All I can do is keep running the rings on auxiliary power and jury-rig the thrusters from the transport to the new core as a separate system. It’ll take me a week, but the real mainstay is steering. The nature of the patch job will make that impossible.

Long story short. I can get us moving, but only in one direction.

Which begs the question, where the fuck to?
